If you read the MM Archliches aren't stronger than normal ones, they are just not evil, or they are cleric/liches.

I have never seen a lich cast imprisonment on me and most liches cast timestop, truesight, then symbols or gate first before meteor storm...and elder orbs have death ray...nasty.
