-   -   I KILLED FIRKRAAG D TRADITIONAL WAY AND PRACTICALLY NOBODY GOT DAMAGED! (http://www.ironworksforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53855)

before i went back to the graveyard district to meet up with bohdi to go to spellhold, i decided to kill Firkraag coz i was pretty confident of my skills... i managed to kill firkraag without so much as a scratch on any of my party members! i know, i know its practically impossible but with a little bit of luck i was able to pull him a fast one.

here's my party...
Me (Archer) w/ Heartseeker n Shadow Dragon Scales
Korgan w/ the throwing axe+3... i forget... n Ring of Gax n Plate of Balduran
Jaheira w/ sling of Everard
Viconia w/ arla's dragonbane
Yoshimo w/ celestial fury
Edwina http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif w/ robe of vecna

1st i cast magic resistance to give mr dragon a "bost" of magic resistance. then i possition my archer and korgan in a way that wen edmina casts cloudkill, he only hits firkraag... then i make jaheira cast insect plague on mr dragon and i get yoshimo and viconia to pepper him with ranged attacks. as my archer and korgan continue to pumble mr dragon with arrows and axes, edwina and jaheira keeps on summoning creatures to keep the dragons attention away from us.... ultimately the cloudkill worked its magic and a critical hit from my archer sealed his fate. i dont know wat happened and how it happened but when i checked my characters, they were all in full health...
yay! =)

umm, thats a well-known cheese tactic. i believe that most everyone on the board has tried that at least once, and its really more of a wussy way to defeat him. if you want a challenge, fight him w/out summoned creatures and get into an actual melee.

And not casting magic resistance on him either thats pretty cheesy too.

Oh well... at least its better than that "quivering palm - save/load" cheese technique that i read in this other site... hehehe

Lord Shield 05-29-2001 05:59 AM

BTW, when you get Throne of Bhaal, this cheese will not work. Cast a spell of ANY kind and the dragon will rip you a new one

But quivering palm will still be there.

I'm interested to know in what way is this tactic remotely traditional.

Why?

Wah 05-29-2001 03:54 PM

The more traditional way of course is a mouthful of fingers of death.

Firkraag: magic resistance
Firkraag: magic resistance

And soon it is a case of failing BOTH a amgic resistance and a save VS death = easy one hit kill.

(that is..............if you're a magehttp://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif)

Eventually killed him - Yee Ha! - not!!
I took Yoshi in and laid about 8 special snares under him.
Had Aerie cast magic resistance against him.
Then had Aerie cast breach, and Jaheira cast Miscast magic against him.
Of course, when an offensive spell is cast, he turns nasty.
I did this before, with a couple less traps, and he still wasted me. So I thought that I'd weaken him and then have a bit of a fight.
He turned aggressive, and immediately died without a shot or a blow being struck.
Well I ain't trying cheese tactics like that again - MEGA disappointing.
These tactics are fine to find things out, or if you're in a real mess, but I think I'd now prefer to level up a bit, get something like the Crom Fayer and do hte major kickings the proper way.
