Apologies in advance in this has been answered but I can't find exact answer anywhere.
I'm busy on Chapter 2 doing all the different quests (done all areas but Windspear Hills at present). Problem is that I can't seem to start the Harper quests as part of Jaheira's romance.
I've had the bandit encounter where Jaheira is captured but can't find the poisoned Harper I apparently need to kick everything else off.
Where is here and at what times does here appear?
Does anyone particular have to be in the party?

he appears between locations. Like a random attack in the wild. Try going to city gates !

For me, they appeared in the start of Chapter 2, so maybe you have got him, but lost him again. His name is Renfeld, and when you come to him, he's beeing tortured by some baddies.
Have you encountered someone like him before?</font>

For me, renald(whatever the harpers name is), has always been the first encounter I have as soon as I go to the outerworld... for this post, I tested it and it hasn't failed yet.. as soon as I walk out the gates for the first time (usually to de'Arnse(sp?) keep) I get hit with his encounter

I've never once been able to avoid Renfeld - ever, even when I really wanted to.

He's usually the first encounter you get (or has been in just about every instance I've witnessed) once you leave Athkatla.

Have you seen/encountered Xzar? He'll be in the Docks District, near the Harper Compound. His quest will also get you into the Harper compound.

That's the way I figured that it worked, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Bugs do occur, and quite often when it concerns Jaheira's Romance. :D

If for some reason he (Xzar) was present, it certainly wouldn't hurt attempting to get his quest, but Sir Exxon is right - he shouldn't be there. I'd check anyway though.
