What on eart are the spider eggs and gemstones used for?

As far as I know, gems are to sell for gold.

But, Spider eggs on the other hand are needed to become a Warlock. You need 1 egg and 1 skull to give to the Wizard's Guild or Priest's Guild (I think) and they will allow to change class to a Warlock. You also need a Spider egg to finish the Serpent temple.
