Psycho 07-01-2002 05:03 PM

Just got the game last week, played a bit around the first days to get a feeling for skills and races, and started 3 games:
1- Kahjiit , Stealth
2- Redguard , Combat
3- High Elf , Magic
All have custom skill settings.

My question: After running around in Balmora my 'Thief' and 'Fighter' are close to level 3 while my 'Mage' is still on 1 and only has 4/10 pts. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? Should I include a fast raising skill in my major and minor skills? I found that jumping around instead of running builds up acrobatics insanely fast (already +15 and not even an important skill). I only have light armor and long blade in there, other skills are magic shools.

Is everyone mixing tons of ingredients to get there Alchemy up?
Advice is appreciated, only hints, no spoilers pls.

Signed,
One sick Psycho

you just have to practice
but make sure you concentrate on your major and minor skills.
If you want to increase your alchemy skill either pay for training or collect ingredients and start mixing potions.
If you want to increase your destruction skills start casting destruction spells (just not at the general public)

Jumping = acrobatics , so jumping around = practicing acrobatics

another tip,
find an NPC that offers the service "spellmaking"
make a spell of whatever school you want (like fireball for destruction.) that only does 1 damage on target, it should only cast one magika to cast. then as you run and jump around madly, cast the spell over and over again.
also if you raise the level of a misc skill 10 times before you level up, (such as your acrobatics) you will get a 5x multiplyer for the attribute related to that skill. ( i think acrobatics is either agility or strenght)
If you decide you really want to level up in a hurry, just go buy a bunch of crab meat, and kwama eggs from the kajitt in the balmora mage guild and make potions till your eyes water :D

If you want to raise your enchant skill, you can
a: use the 'cast when used' effects on your enchanted items alot. using the enchanted spell raises your enchant skill.
b: use filled soul gems to "recharge" your enchanted items. (of course it may be cheaper to train, but you cant train it above your int. level so at some point you may need a way to 'practice' it for real)

Jumping off very tall heights (guard towers) can also build up acrobatics alot.

ha ha, or kill you :D

LOl. But its usually not that bad, even at low-levels I never once got killed when jumping off at full health. Just jump off the tower, rest, and then jump off again, rest.... Your acrobatics should increase fast. Just in case, don't wear heavy armor when trying this, I noticed Ilost less when wearing light.

Actually if you jump of the tower then cast healing spells instead of resting you can practice your Restoration at the same time. You would only need to rest once you ran out of spell points.

As another option use one of the healing items instead of casting the spell to practice your enchant.

or... brew healing potions and practice alchemy ...
so, you can practice acrobatics, restoration, enchant and alchemy just by jumping off towers... cute .

I was just wondering, is there someway to increase the probability of spells working? For instance, I love my Fireball spell that I bought in Balmora, but it only has a 45ish percent of it working, (usualy doesn't work when I most need it)It doesn't seem to increase with practice either, will I have to buy another Fireball with increased probabilty or will I have to be more patient?
