I was stunned to discover, as the result of a thieves' guild quest, that there is an almost complete set of glass armor in the Ald'Ruhn Mages' Guild smith's room (sitting out in plain sight, no less). :D

I was even more pleased to realize, that given a fairly high sneak skill, I was able to sneak around right under the smith's nose and loot at will. You gotta love that skill. After a certain point, there are few things you can't lift. I didn't get caught, hence took all the goodies and kept my good standing in the mages' guild. Shiny! [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I just restarted, and I have to remember to pay a LOT more attention to the stuff lying around in plain sight than I did the first time through.

You can find tons of glass armor just laying around in plain sight. Then again a lot of things are out in plain sight. Congrats on your nice find.

Don't you mean the Ald Ruhn fighters guild instead of mages guild ?

fighters you have to pick the lock on the door or just talk to percius mercius and he'll let you in at some point then you can take the lot

Folks, it really *is* the Mages' Guild (nice to know that there's some locked up in the Fighter's Guild too, though).

I got a Thieves' Guild quest from Aengoth the Jeweler in Ald'Ruhn to steal a specific sword from the Mages' Guild there. In the process of hunting around for the sword, I found the armor laying in plain sight in the smith's room.

If your sneak skill is high enough, you can heist it under his nose. If not, the Thieves' Guild quest causes the Mages' Guild to be emptied of all but the guy by the front door, who you can creep by. Bliss! :D (It's not a complete set, but IIRC it's the cuirass, shield & helm at least).

ah yeah i remember that quest, its not a full set of glass but it does have some useful bits, as usual i ended up stealing everything then came back later tried to sell it to the guy in the mage guild and he had the affront to tell me it was stolen goods and wouldnt accept it, i ask ya! (admittedly i had taken it from the cupboard behind him [img]tongue.gif[/img] ) but strangely he didnt set the guards on me [img]smile.gif[/img]

You can get the rest at the ghostgate: one of the traders has glass greaves and bracers on a shelf... well, actually HAD, since I stole them [img]graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

I particularly like those Daedric helmets those guys are wearing there. Right now i have an enchanted helmet, but before i go to Red mountain, i'll go to ghostgate, taunt one of those guys, kill him, and get his helmet. That's the only Daedric item i don't have so far. I wanna go there in style. :D

Okay, so I stole the glass armor in the fighters guild (yehaa was I surprised when I opened the chest). Now I wonder, is there any armor actually better than the glass armor, or is that the best? (in LIGHT armory that is since I don't wear heavy)

None better for light armor. All the rest is HEAVY stuff. And I'm RPing this time with light armor, so having handy glass armor at both the Mages' Guild AND the Fighter's Guild in Ald'ruhn is cool. :D
