I was looking around for new mods when I came across something called Tamriel Rebuilt. Curious about what it was I found out that TR is a group of people working of creating all of Tamriel, starting with Morrowind. I don't know if this has already been discussed here before, but just thought I'd pass it along as new or old news as the case may be.

With what purpose ? Create a totally new game ?

There are some mods already out that are part of the TR project, one is called Silgrad Tower I believe. Its a 40meg download with a 1.5 meg patch or some such that goes with it. I haven't tried it but the map layout looks intriguing.

40 megs? that would take forever to download. :(

These people have been working on this project ever since about 5 months before Morrowind was released. They started their web site years ago when the first of the elder scrolls games came out and the day Bethesda showed up at a game show with the new designs and the basic TES Construction set in Beta for morrowind they desided to remake the original game with the TES kit that would be included in the game.
They spent months working on models and stories just waiting for the TES kit to come out. Then when the Beta was released they got hold of it as some of the first Beta testers and started building the models and started the Rebuild Tamriel full blast. Right now they have about 35% completed and by summer 2004 they hope to have the whole thing completed. I really think they are going to make it.
this team of people are the ones that got me interested in morrowind and they are the reason I bought all the High power Pent 4 computers that I now own and they are the reason I have ordered the T-1 internet connection, so I'll be able to download the MODS in seconds rather than hours.
So far they have rebuilt the complete continent and are slowly rebuilding the cities one at a time so that we can down load them one at A time. If they were to wait until everthing was completed the down load would be around 2500Megs so they are making smaller MODs 30 to 50 Megs at a time that way when everything is completed all the mods will fit one next to the other and each mod will have from 5 to 20 quests. The completed world map is about 5 times bigger than the morrowind map is now. I have down loaded Silgrad Tower with my 56k dial up modem and it took a little more than 5 hours and its great if the rest of their rebuild is half as good, it will be better than any game of the year could ever wish to be or ever has been and to play a game from start to end will take years.
