Is it possible to beat the game without major/minor sneak, security, alteration, restoration and mysticism?

Without alteration; levitation etc will be very hard to cast. only by items.
mysticism; teleport spell is useful
restoration; easy to incraese plus restores your health
sneak; ?
security: maybe I can handle it with lock spell, am I correct?

and speechcraft

yes, you can still beat the game. if you put those skill in misc section too it's still works the same as in major and minor ( provided you have patched your game ).

if you sucks at security, you can use lock spell.

patch?? I'm playing without any patches witch patch should I install?

I think it's the beauty of the game that you can choose whatever skills you like and still be able to do everything.

Off topic:I've been wondering about the "warrior" ability to bash open doors and chests. IIRC you could do that in Daggerfall. Anybody know why it isn't included in Morrowind?

Well...I have the EU version and it has Ubi-Soft printed on the box and CDs as EU distributor. So I would guess Bethesda only=US and Bethesda/Ubi-Soft=EU.

You definitely don't need alteration or mysticism. As you said, you can use items, and there are plenty of them available, especially for teleporting, but for levitation as well. Also, you can get your own items made that may be more powerful/convenient than the ones you find. I think if you're playing a warrior class, it's a waste and not roleplay-sensible to have major/minor abilities that are mage-class abilities.

Sneak, well I played through without sneaking ever. No problem. Security as well, there are spells, and you can always make items that have open spells in them. Do watch out for Ekash's lock splitter though. It says it opens 100 level locks, but in fact it (usually) doesn't work at all. I found this very frustrating because there are a number of chests with lock levels of 75 or so which I couldn't open.

Restoration I would argue you don't need either. There are a LOT of healing items you can find, and some heal quite large amounts of hps with many charges. As well, restoration was one of my minor skills (was a knight), but I only managed to increase it by 10 or so naturally in the course of one game plus most of tribunal. Casting a spell increases a minor skill by 3 (or so). Considering the number of times you're going to need to heal yourself (also relative to the amount of mana you might have) that doesn't make it rise very quickly.

And of course, as Kakero said, you can increase any skill by training or using when it's only miscellaneous. It doesn't make it work any better when major/minor, just increases a bit faster with use. Also, where Kakero said you need to patch your game for it to work, he means that with the patch, miscellaneous skill increases count towards your next level up, not just major/minor. You don't need to patch just to increase your miscellaneous skills at all ;)
