i am at the point of having to kill a beholder at the ship platform in drow
city.i go there,find phaere(she doesnt speak to me) and solavfein(he talks
nonsense) but no beholder there!!!and if i start wandering then the alarm
sounds and i get attacked!!!where is that beholder???

Buggy game. You must not have the patches installed.

Reload and try again. When the beholder shows up...it's just a regular beholder ...wump on it and don't let your last cleric die. Summoned are good.
Shield of Balduran is best of course, but if you've got a Buggy Game you probably don't have Throne of Bhaal installed so it's not for sale in your game. Oh well...

You can get the Shield of Balduran by downloading the Bonus Merchants fix. This puts both Deirdre (upstairs in Adventurer's Mart) and the guy from Icewind Dale (Joluv) in the Copper Coronet. Deirdre has the Shield of Balduran, among other items.

This does not help you if you are already in the middle of the Underdark (you only get one shot , you don't get to go back and revisit it , remember ? )

Though maybe the patch fix would solve a lot of bugs in the game, that one is worth while.

But you do have to wait a little while after Phaere speaks... dont go running off b4 then... that can trigger them attacking you as well.

Does it tell you they are busy when you try to talk to them? It is a common bug some people are getting. You need to install the newest patch to fix that.

i tried the patch nothing happened.well ok i played it from a earlier saved game...it was boring but now its ok ...thanks anyway guys...happy to be a new IW member...
