Does anyone else have this game? Or the first Dark Cloud? What point are you at?

In Dark Cloud 2, I am in the volcano area. I can't remember the name. Max has a Digi Hammer and a bell trigger. Monica has a Choora and thorn amulet.

In the first Dark Cloud, I am in the genie's castle and have just been upgrading my weapons. I can't remember much other than Toan has the chronicle sword.

I got Dark Cloud 2. I've played up until where Max trying to find some things in the first town trying to fix his uncle machine. The game was really boring. didn't have the mood to continue playing after that.

I recently got the first one and it is dull. Same thing over and over get Alta kill monsters, beat boss and make your own stinkin town. Fighting is not that good in my opinion I really do regret having to buy the game. Anyway do you know if Dark Cloud 2 similar like the first.
