Im just looking around for something to do.. anyway i stumbled or just checked back with World of warcraft and see how it was doing, Im a little confused about the lore.

Now, in the world of warcraft, im a little confused about burning legion and the horde. I thought they were one and the same but they are not. the horde are the rebels. Now, im a little confused about the storyline and stuff. is the burning legion active in this world in the WOW? gimme some lore guys.

The storyline is just where The Frozen Throne finished. Meaning that The Horde is just about as hateful enemies of the Legion as are Humans. Lordearon and the Elven capital are in ashes. Parts of the Ashenvale forest(Night Elf) is corrupted by the Legion. The Orcs tamed the lands of Kalimdor, making an alliance with the Tauren and other critters, thus forming The Horde.

I believe that the Burning Legion is active(so you can find some of the daemons in WoW) but I'm not completely sure.

It's like this, Harkoliar.

Warcraft I: The Orcs, once a peaceful and noble race, and corrupted by the demons of the legion and invade the human lands of Azeroth through a portal.

Warcraft II: The surviving humans fled to Lordaeron, where they formed an alliance with other races such as Dwarves and Elves. Together, they managed to defeat the Horde.

Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal:
A human task force goes through the portal, to the homeworld of the Orcs (Dreanor) to close the gate between Dreanor and Azeroth.

Warcraft III: The defeated Orcs have been put in concentration camps. But rise up against the humans, and flee to the continent of Kalimdor. Lordearon is destroyed after an invasion of Undead and the Burning Legion. The human survivers flee to Kalimdor, where they form an alliance with the Night Elves and Orcs to defeat the legion and prevent the apocalypse.

Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne-

The Burning Legion attempts to permanently weaken/destroy the Undead. This is stopped and *SPOILER ALERT* the Lich King takes physical form. Evil wins, again.

thanks guys.. so this is the current situation now.. everyone is at a stand off.. whoopee.. they should have added demons and devils you know so they can be burning legion :D

Well.. it's not really the Burning Legion that tries to put an end to Scourge. I don't know if that new Demon Lord (such as Archimonde) is aligned with the Burning Legion, but he's the only real demon present in the game. It's really up to Illidan and Kael and lady Vasj to stop Arthas and Ner'Zuhl both.
