How many ADOM veterans do we have in the house?
For those of you who may not know, ADOM, short for "Ancient Domains of Mystery", is a ridiculously, dangerously addictive little DOS game falling under the genre of "Roguelike." It has a massive cult following. I've been playing ADOM since 1996, and I've only beat the game once. It's only one character, and it's strictly top-down and Dos (ASCII) graphics interface, but it's a masterpiece in spartan design and in diabolically designed dungeons. Character development is pretty extensive for a DOS game, with 21 classes and I forget how many races, about 30 skills, and the ability to play good (law) or evil (chaos). Just curious as to how many others have played this game? Did it grab you, too? http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif http://www.wizardrealm.com/images/saz1.gif |
Nope, never even heard of it, and if it had ASCII graphics, I would have shun it like a poop on my shoo in 1996. I was too much into Duke Nukem and games like that... http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
I don't know now though, if it has great RPG element as you say I might like it ------------------ http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...ievalsmile.gif Keldorn's Younger brother |
Gotta LOVE it... http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...ievalsmile.gif
Ya know, Saz, we're gonna be the only ones who ever heard about this.. Read about it here: http://www.adom.de/ ------------------ http://publish.hometown.aol.com/tobb...s/rudedawg.jpg http://www.phpshop.net/images/bg2guy/cov09.jpg The RudeDawg Known in these Forgotten Realms as Perin LightEyes and my girlfriends, Pamila and Phil |
I think you may be right, RudeDawg, at least here! However, I'm bumping it for some of the "day" posters (by Ironworks time) who may not have caught it.
You and I are too much alike! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif Yes, it's addictive. My favorite ADOM site actually is the Drakalor Chain Board of Tourism http://aleph-null.com/adom/ . The game keeps getting worked on...last one I played was the Gamma 14 release, and I think it's up to Gamma 15 now. For a freeware ASCII-graphics based game (you're the @ sign!) it's pretty good, guys. http://www.wizardrealm.com/images/saz1.gif |
Never heard of it before Saz, although it does sound interesting.
