BTW, my hearing was tested today and I am within the normal range (well at least my hearing is). My ability to hear in the 8k range drops significantly but still remains in the normal range. Thanks again for the coaxing! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

What do you want to use it for? What is the MAIN reason for the laptop? (The truth,now. Don't say it's for running Excel if you want to run TOB on it) What is the reason for going laptop versus desktop?

From time to time we may use if for Word and potentailly Access.
But primarily it will be used for surfing http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif, gaming, and movies (both at home and on trips). I really like the fact that you can have your own in flight movie. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif I also like the fact that you can take your laptop anywhere and link up to the web. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

For me gaming would consist of games like BGII, TOB, NWN, Alpha Centauri and other strategy games, and especially Exile http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif (the 3rd in the Myst series).

OK, this is easy, then...

The most harware-intesive things you want to do are the games. Seems like NWN and Exile will be the ones that work your laptop, so get the specs that they recommend, and we can work from there.

DVD and MP3's don't need much. Word and Acces just take up a LOT of HD, must don't require a lot of power.

GAMES, though, they can want alot...

(BTW, I love Alpha Centauri as well, do you play Civ, Civ II, or Test of Time?)

Nope, just AC, Mater of Orion II, and a little AOE II (BG II has kept me from doing much with AOE II).

LOVE that and the city building series...CaesarIII, Pharaoh, Zeus (although I got Zeus just as I discovered BG2...so guess what I've only done tutorials on! )
