It's really up to you, given time, you'll find your 'calling'. You really should go with something you believe in, and love.. If you're not happy in your job, you won't give 110%, ya know?

I've actually taught myself what I know-- PC work, Programming (some), 2D Drawing, 3D Modeling, Photography, Directing, and much more.. if you enjoy it, DO IT!! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

One more thing I would like to learn--Egyptian Archeology, and I'm trying to learn to read the Egyptian Hieroglyphs.. It's SO HARD.. oh man.. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/uhoh3.gif

Ziroc, I hope I find my 'calling' soon - I'm now 30, & still don't know what I want to be when I grow up http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif
Respect to you for learning heiroglyphs - I am doing an archaeology degree, but unfortunately no Egyptian component to it (Classical Greek, Roman & Medieval only). Perhaps if archaeology paid enough to live on I would have found my calling there, the pay is really poor though, very few jobs, and usually on very short contracts with periods of unemployment.

PB, looks like you're into sciences, computing and geography. Had you thought of looking into Geographical Information Systems (GIS)? This is a growing area in Britain, one which I am interested in myself (it is one of the areas of computer use which is finally being put to good use in archaeology). It is also used in the department I work in (MAFF) to track the spread of epidemics http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Depends on 3 things:

1. What you enjoy
2. What you are good at
3. What you are willing to do to maintain the standard of living you want

No.3 is the tricky one. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Hey Dude,

Took me a while to discover what interested me too - I am a Chemical Engineer, and the good part of my job is solving problems. I went back at age 25 to study, because it took me a while to figure out what I liked. Usually people expect that we study heaps of Chemistry, but we know squat all of that (well, basic only). The job is about making just about anything - whether it be petrol from crude oil, sugar from cane, or Alumina from bauxite, or a new high tech plastic. It's about fitting the operations together, and making the whole process run faster leaner smoother etc. It's a lot of hard study to get the degree, but there is no shortage of employment opportunities about the world, and there is plenty of variety in the things I get to do.

It's not to everyone's taste of course, but it keeps me happy and pays the bills (and supports my Golf habit - will be back in Scotland in August - Fore).
