I've not made up my mind yet, but I think I want to study abroad, preferably Australia, or New Zealand. I'm searching my ass off, to get some decent information about universities there, and I was wondering if any of you guys (and girls) know something about it. I would appreciate any help! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif
If you're interested; I will either go for Archaeology, or Marine Biology, but I'm not quite sure which one it'll be.
Thanks!

Well, I wasn't too sure before, but now I know! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/hihi.gif http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif I will visit you anyhow mate, and we'll go drinking our asses off with Memsie! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Anyway, serious now, thanks for the Archaeology! I've been able to find the following myself:
Marine biology and Zoology at University of Queensland
Zoology at University of Tasmania
Tropical Marine Biology at James Cook University
Marine Studies at Murdoch University
Archaeology at La Trobe University

EDIT:This one's new:
University of Otago (NZ) :Marine Science, Zoology
Problem is: I can't find any specific information about these uni's. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...s/rolleyes.gif No good at all, I know. Anyway; I also want to know if these universities are "real", i.e. it's not some simple educational program. I'm looking for a globally accepted study.

I've studied a broad more than once. I've also ogled and stared at them. I usually try to look away before they catch me, but that's not always sucessful.

Sorry, I just had to do that.

The only one I know of is Otago which some of my friends went to. Otago deals with the more scientific side of things, mostly medical but yes it is a real unihttp://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

You need to get some dark sunglasses so you may study with impunity! It is harder to this after you are married, though! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

My degree is in archaeology.
Great subject, very wide ranging - you can study anything from human prehistory pretty much up to the present day.

The following are important:
You must not be afraid of heavy manual labour - digging is VERY exhausting
Patience
Attention to detail - recording exactly what you have found, where, when, what circumstances
You should be prepared to learn all sorts of things including surveying techniques, technical drawing, how to empty a wheelbarrow without doing your back in AS WELL as the academic stuff like archaeological theory and cultural/historical background.

It is very rewarding, although jobs are hard to come by and usually poorly paid. If you study this I bet you will get to go on some great field trips.

You don't need dark glasses to study with impunity! Tell your wife whose BOSS! Let her know that you'll study anyone that you want because...

I think the best for Marine Biology is James Cook University in Townsville, QLD. I did my first year Chem Eng there, before transferring to UQ in Brisbane.
