my game is lagging, or slowing down, whenever there are lots of enemies attacking me. i have a big enough computer, well above even the recomended requirments, is htere something i dont know thats causing this? i heard this could happen late in the game with the big spells and all, but im still in the first chapter

Try changing operation-sytem. I know it sounds harsh, but some shit (Windows ME in particular) eats away your ram like a flies finish of a dung-pile

I have run BG2 on ME, 98SE, 2000 and XP. ME was pretty bad, 2000 worse. SE2 was fine, and XP by far the best.

Also, try turning on and off the 3d acceleration and sound settings.

I don't get it... I have windows ME. NOTHING bad ever happens to me... no lag... no uh... whatever problems everyone else has! People always said that it was real buggy... but I never had a single problem with it.

Hmmmm... go figure.

Bah! Then you are using it in the wrong way ;)

It could be the problem I had until recently... The graphics card. I was having TERRIBLE lag on a Power Mac G4 w/ 1.5 gb of RAM, and my processer load never got very high, but the game ran SLOW until I bought a new GeForce card. If you have plenty of RAM, you might want to up your cache in the game options as well, to put as much as you can into RAM, 'cos every time the game touches your HD, you're going to slow down.

I always have this lagging as well. I think it's just because my computer's graphics card isn't very good, it's probably the same for you, Bulletsponge. Try adjusting the resolution too, perhaps you can lower it, and this might well improve the lag.
