Baldur's Gate 2 doesn't like my computer!! Or, it keeps uninstalling itself. The first time was a while ago, I put disk 2 in, and my autoplay brought the first window up, but there was no play option. Instead, there was install. I figured it must have uninstalled itself somehow(because I KNOW I didn't), so I tried to install it again, but nothing happened. I had to UNinstall it again, and then REinstall it... And it was fine for two weeks. And then, grrr, it just did it again yesterday, and I had to go through the whole process... I've a fast comp, but it still takes a while to install. Anyway, is this from not registering it, corrupted files, wierd viruses, or something else? Does anyone know? Probably not, but it's worth a try!

this does sound pretty weird indeed, don't take this as an advise, but if a thing like that would happen to me, i'd probably go for a format and start all over again. I know this is kinda extreme, but if nothing else works this might be the solution

Hmmm. Sounds weird. If you haven't before, try doing a FULL install and then install the SOA patch. But before you do that, do a clean uninstall first. Make sure to remove any BG2 files and folders you want to keep before uninstalling; such as any saved games, the portrait folder, and custom items. After doing a clean uninstall (which also means removing the leftover BG2 folder after uninstalling and BG2 registry keys), then do a FULL install and the SOA patch. If all of the above still doesn't work, go to the official BioWare Tech help forum and see if you can post for help:

Maybe the game is still installed but your computer forget about it.

Not long ago, I had a power failure, and now windows think I have nothing installed, so every time I insert a cd, I get the instalation screen, so what I do is close it, and then just use the shortcut in my program file and the games work just fine.

It's not your pc. The same thing happened to me(Twice)! It was the damdest thing. I just re-installed, applied the latest patch and havn't had a problem since. I will have to wait and see if it happens again. The install takes so long it drives you crazy. BTW maybe it's a conflict with the operating system? I'm using XP.

I have the same problem, but then with another game. I install it and it immediately starts to uninstall itself. I don't know how to solve that problem.
