How do you get past the group of thugs blocking the stair to the Buried Villiage? They keep killing me.

As far as I can remember a sufficiently high Int/Wis/Cha character can convince them to let you pass. Either that or you can kill them, which is pretty tough for your level.

I use mortes Litany of curses to lure them out 1 by 1 it makes things a heck of a lot easier.
