I'm in serious need of help!
I had arcanum ( a game, if you haven't heard of it) installed on my computer a while back and then I removed it.
Now when I wanna install it again, it just says that I can remove the game, which I haven't got on my computer, and not a thing about installing.
When I try to remove it, it just gives me an error message and I have to cancel the whole thing.
What the heck am I supposed to do?!
Any help is welcome, except for lobsters ;)

You should be able to access the CD without autorunning it. On some game CD's you can start the install program without going through the autorunner which will prevent you from doing so if it thinks that you've still got the game instealled....

So go onto the game CD and look for a file called "Install" or "Setup".

Thanks Neb, I'll try that right away

This is either a registry problem or the directory still exists on the Hard disk from the old install.

1) check the directory in which you originally installed the game is goen, if not delete it.
2) Download Reclean and run it (should be able to get it from www.download.com)
3) get someoen who knows about PCs to run Regedit and manually remove the old settings

you might need to go into the registry and remove anything tnat is still there from the original install.

Well, running the setup from the CD didn't work, it just showed the same message :(
I'll try that second alternative of yours Tainly, since the directory is definetly not there.

Neb's idea will probably work... if it doesn't, you might want to check to see if the Arcanum folder is still there, and also see if you can use Add/Remove Programs.

Sir ReGiN 04-24-2002 11:47 AM

Well, I couldn't find that reclean program
And khazadman, how would I do that?

Ugh that sucks :(

ONE TIP! BACK UP THE REGISTRY BEFORE SCREWING WITH IT!!

then run regedit and delete all references to the game and developer from the registry. do a search for first one then the other using "F3" to continue intill they are all removed. Bingo you should be able to reinstall without a problem And its lame that they set it up that way....sometimes I have had to overinstall a game to get it to work right :-/
