has anyone ever attacked him in his human form? I was going to do this but i forgot, and i was wondering if he changes into his um 'other' form right there in the copper coronet. Probably not, but just wondering.

I think that that is predictable, other way he wouldn't trick us out, and i think that he is far smart to become a dragon and reveal himself in public.

the only reason he doesn't is that he would kill you, and you would reload and have the secret spoiled. Also, he's much too sadistic to just kill you in public. He would much rather make you suffer, which he does. Chromatic Dragons are really, really nasty. and mean. and greedy. Then again, the only example of a Metallic Dragon in the game is the not-so patient Adalon, who isn't very nice either. It's understandable, though. If you don't know why, ask around in the Ust Natha Tavern about dragons. you'll find out. stupid drow.
