On the upper floor of the De'Arnise keep there is a fighter called Glaicas near the middle of the map. He is quite tough at this early stage but I have heard that he is charmed and there is a way to "counter-charm" him and then talk to him to make him come to his senses. What spell do you use to "counter-charm" him?

You can use either "Charm" or "Dire Charm" on him, but it is VERY difficult, because he turns to Blue only for a moment, then to Green (meaning you can't talk to him as an NPC). So in the instant he turns blue, you have to whack him, then immediately talk to him before he turns back to red. (Allegedly...I've never been able to get it to work, so I always ended up waxing the poor sucker.)

There maybe a way to do this, but i don't know how, i think something like dire charm or charm or something, but i always kill him, and found him easy, as he has low saving throws, but high hit points. So kill is the message

Couldn't you cast Cure(?), the spell that cures mind altering spells like charm?, I've never tried this but, hey...It just came too me..in a flash.

I just try Charm Person with the Ring of HI and Nymph Cloak, and if both of them fail, I just kill him. Wait for the Charm's duration to wear off, and he'll talk to you. Charming him nets you more EXP, but low-level parties could really use his Full Plate Armor.

The Darts of Stunning are there for a reason.

If you have a druid in your party you can summon a nymph - she'll have a mental domination/dire charm in her 'spellbook'

or use illithid control circlets. They have no saving throw, so are very useful to low-level parties. (HAHA FOOLS!!! THEY LAST 1000'S OF HOURS!! WAIT FOR THAT TO WEAR OFF!) I'm sure every party in chapter 2 has at least 5 or 6 of these.

Errr, where from? I can only think of one place you can get the control circlets from, and it isn't available in chapter 2.

Where can you find those control things? when i did was summon a nymph when walked in.. held him, then all my fighters walked around him in a circle and beat the bloody crap out of him! ahh..that seems to be my fighters favorite game to play with the baddies
