<font face="Verdana" size="3" color="#00FF00">This article is so true.
http://money.canoe.ca/Columnists/Sut...06/338354.html Couple paragraphs from the article:</font> Our pop cultures is over-flowing with sexual images, yet, show one nipple and everyone thinks the world has ended. The only thing that has been revealed in the course of the past week is Western society's twisted, puritanical and hypocritical attitudes towards sexuality. So don't come down hard on Janet. She has raised the bar for Madonna, Britney, Christina et al. Mark my words: the next female pop icon won't be the one who can hit the highest notes, but the one who can drop her drawers the lowest. Which is of course more important than singing.

Somebody flashes a nip every few years. Cher did it, Xena... I guess I just don't understand why some people are still titillated.

Plus I decided she looks too much like Michael to be considered a hottie.

Ah yes... One mostly covered nipple interrupts the great family event that is the Super Bowl and the country goes nuts. As if the thinly veiled sexual innuendo that passed as a half-time show was "wholesome" in the first place.
Some woman has even started a class action lawsuit on this. An expression of the Judeo-Christian concept of "God helps those who sue others", I'm sure. My questions then: Who the #$^& cares in the first place??? Why where these people lame enough to watch the half-time show anyway? And, moreover, how is an event during which household alcohol consumption and domestic violence sharply increase considered a "family event"? |
I agree Pritchke. The irony being, if it wasn't such a big deal, it wouldn't have happened. It only happened becasue this sort of result was anticipated.
It's only a frigging nipple. We've all seen one haven't we? It's what fed us for our first months alive. It does have a function outside sex. Some cultures in Africa still have women walking around topless. You see one on any Aussie beach, or many European advertisements, or in any museum. Who cares? In any case, how hard is it for a network to add a 10 second delay? Aussie networks have done it for decades. It means if a reporter curses, or something that contravenes broadcast standards happens, they have 10 seconds to pull the plug. Not that hard CBS. Why has this caused such a big fuss in the states ? as Yorick said, it's only a nipple.
Johnny rotten used a very bad swear word on tv over here a few days ago a word that I would consider much more offensive than a bare nipple, it recived 9 complaints, so are we less moral in the UK, or just more more rational ?. And as for this bloke, well you'll have to ask Johnny Rotten http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/allnews...name_page.html PS Graham Norton on the incident " The Jackson family must be so embarrased " And if anyone can tell me how to shorten links when I post the please feel free. |
