Crazy World!!!! At least this story turned out OK!!! But Scary just the same.

http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Law/2004...511820-cp.html

The man drove from the Maritimes with a carload of guns and ammunition intending to kill as many people in Toronto as he could, he told police. But a last-minute encounter with a woman and her dogs in a lakefront park convinced him Torontonians are nice too.

"He wanted to start a killing spree," said Det. Sgt. Bernadette Button. "He didn't indicate why, but (did say) that the people in the Maritimes were nice so he thought he'd come up to Toronto."

Police said a man had a loaded gun in his pocket and a car crammed with more than 6,000 rounds of ammunition and had intended to start firing in the park on a sunny summer afternoon.

Unless he had a minigun he wouldn't have been able to use most of the ammunition

Not that Im saying it was ok....just a comment.

On that issue..why does the press seem to fixate on wether the gun was "AN ASSAULT RIFLE" or just a "Rifle"? Do the dead people car ewhat it was that killed them? Does a "High Power" Rifle kill you deader than just a "Rifle"? Just some things that make me go Hmmmm

Hmmmm!!!!

Guess it really doesn't matter. Assault Rifle sure sounds cooler though. It would likely be a more important story than the one were a rile was used.

An assualt rifle can kill MORE people because they generally have bigger mags than hunting rifles, and few hunting rifles are fully automatic ;)

I know the difference between the two What Im wondering is do the dead people care? The way the journalists cover the stories is...well moronic if you ask me...they emphasize the dumbest aspects while minimizing the more salient points of the story. All to apparently push an agenda.

not true actually, a well trained man with a handgun is more deadly than some raving idiot with an assault rifle. take, for instance, the ak-47. when firing fully automatic at a distance of thirty feet, you have an error range because of recoil and general innacuracy of one meter after the first couple of shots. with a pistol and well placed shots, well trained people can land many in the space of a coffee can, with minimal time for recoil in between.

for example, a military pistol qualified sharp shooter can draw, place two shots on bullseye, reload and place two more on bullseye in under five seconds. that means that a well trained person with a hand gun could kill four people in less than five seconds... with an assault rifle in a crowded place you could seriously wound that many, but not with as much likelyhood of a solid kill.

Would he have stopped if the lady had a cat? Things that make me go Hmmmmm ;)

Nah, cats don't play tug of war and bound around all happy to see you. They just put their noses up in the air and pretend they don't like to be scratched.

Not quite the same effect of bouncy outgoingness.
