Never played EQ, but I know a lot of peep's who have.
I play Dark Age of Camelot, pretty much the same as
Ever Crack or so I am told but only better ;)

Don't touch it, it's EVIL!

Been away from EQ about 9 months now. Played for over 3 years on Karana, then on Ayona Ro. Ended up with a 59th level bard and a 47th level monk for my troubles

I've never really been addicted to any game like EverCamp or Diablo 2. After a certain point all that there is to do is camp where the best items spawn and try to get stronger and stronger. Not really any missions to complete and hardly anyone tries to roleplay...... *shrug* I just don't see the point of it Being able to say: "I've got a level 255 Necromancer!" Really isn't something that I'm willing to spend several days of my life on

For a single player game I would agree with you whole heartedly Neb. But for a multi-player game like EQ, for me atleast, it had little to do with camping junk and more about doing things with online friends. When I finally left EQ I was still playing with people that I had been hanging out with online for 2-3 years. It was hard leaving those realationships behind, but had to be done for my own sanity If you talk with almost any long term EQ players you will find this is what keeps them coming back. Same with many of the other online games.

Right, true, I can understand that, the people. But the people would also be a reason not to play. What about all of the lamers that insist in talking using "1337" and have camped enough to be level 255 with all of the best items and go around killing people much weaker than them just to ruin their fun? All MMORPG's have those people....

The idiots will always be out there in an online environment. Being able to hide behind the mask of anonminity (sp?) brings out the worst in some people. Getting into a good guild of skilled players helps a great deal in not having to deal with the idiots
