hi all, in 4 1/2 hours I'm getting all 4 wisdom teeth out as well as one of my front teeth that is turned sideways, they're going to put me under ot 0630 (AM) tomorrow morning, hopefully my wife doesn't go into labor while I'm getting my chompers removed. ;) but on the positive side, I'll have more time to post happily on here, the down side, I'll be on perkoset(sp?) and probably won't be coherent, lol it's a trade-off I'm willing to make for the sake of getting out of work.

I've always been scared to death of dental surgeons.
Anyway, best wishes, Morgeruat! Hope everything goes your way! |
Yes indeed. Best wishes to both you and your wife. Hopefully everthing will go smoothly and you will have good news to report.

You'll be alright. I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed when I was 17. They knocked me out for about an hour, but apparently, I was only supposed to be out for 50 minutes or so. When I finally woke up, I saw (I kid you not) this beautiful woman dressed in white...young with cascading blonde locks, full red lips, a bright white smile and...ahem...a rather large chest.
I thought I had died and gone to heaven, and she was an angel. But she was just a nurse, and she told me I had been out for a little too long. Then she said something that made me alittle uncomfortable. She said something like, "You took a while to come out of it (the general aneasthetic). This can be attributed to alcohol in the body. Have you been drinking?" Er...um...well...I didn't say anything, and pretended I was still woozy until she ceased her interrogation. OF COURSE I HAD BEEN DRINKING! THE NIGHT BEFORE! It was to celebrate my last hours of wisdom... The only thing that I didn't like about the procedure was that for a week or so afterwards, your face swells up to the size of a Sherrin (that's an Austrlian Rules Football), and for the first day, you can't chew anything. Plan to have soup for the first day or so, and take a few days (maybe a week) off for the bulk of the swelling to subside. Good luck! |
Whoa, Morgeruat! I've had 3 out at once and all were heavily impacted... ugh I don't envy you a bit! Good luck!

The dentist took 6 teeth out with the biggest roots she'd ever seen on baby teeth as well :( I looked like a hampster, my mouth was so swollen...damnit... Good luck, Nathan! |

Well, I'm back, and barely coherent, percoset is good stuff, the operation went off without a hitch, as far as I know, and except for some throat pain (it hurts to swallow), Christi is being great, taking care of me for once, instead of me taking care of her, she’s out getting applesauce and a milkshake (the dr. said it’s ok J) I was doing great till I got home and then I crawled into bed and just got some terrible shakes and convulsions for about a minute or two, I can’t leave the house for 3 days, but I’ve been fine since, it was probably the temperature change, from august outside to nearly arctic inside. I’d better go before Christi catches me out of bed, lol the last thing I want is a 9 month pregnant woman mad at me for being here instead of sleeping
so I guess I won’t be dm-ing our weekly gaming session, which kinda sucks because we’ve got one more night of decent gaming before wrapping up the adventure/campaign I’ve been working on for the 13 months (the party is 2nd edition in dark sun, all average around 9-11 level running through a high level module), oh well I guess we can play Rifts this week and finish the campaign next week. and thanx for your concern here, it means alot to me and my wife. Glad to hear you made it through OK!
For the rest of you...you all need to find better dentists!!! When getting my teeth replaced with dentures (cracked a bunch at the roots in an auto accident) I got ALL of my teeth, wisdoms included, pulled in two sessions with the exception of two first molars that I lost years after they were rebuilt when I got my teeth crushed into my face as a kid. Two sessions, no nitrous-oxide, just novacaine (sp?), no bruising whatsoever, minimal pain (with only aspirin to help afterwards) and extremely minimal swelling. Your face shouldn't swell up after a dentist's visit...if it does, your dentist is not using the proper methods for extraction. Of the two first molars I lost earlier, (two different dentists altogether) one had no swelling and the other, the whole side of my head when that dentist dislocated my jaw pulling the tooth. Good dentists do exist! Find one and stick with them! |
