Damn 400.000 barrels of oil burning... thats going to leave a stain.

It's way to similar to the Cole bombing.

Scary stuff. It just shows how much more that we have to do.

Awg, "terrorism" is a popular term nowadays. If this happened a few years ago, no one would even have mentioned the word in the first place.

Actually, I personally have heard the word used for decades ;)

If the original French report is true, it would obviously be terrorism.

Maybe it was an over-reaction on the part of the French Embassy officials, but how was the media suppose to report what was said by them? There's been an accidental bombing? :D

hmm I wouldn't take the possiblity of terrorism too seriously until there is undeniable proof, most things llike this happen because of some unforseen human error or act of nature...

Yes, the article goes on to say that it may have been an electrical problem on board. Now French officials are saying "we'll wait and see".

</font>
Nah, that's not what I mean... I mean that the entire article would have been written from a very different perspective a few years back, or at least it wouldn't get the same media attention as it does now. There's still a good possibility it's "just" an accident.

</font>
Well the term "Sept 11th changed the world" isnt just a catchy slogan for American propganda you know ;)

Ronn_Bman 10-06-2002 05:22 PM

I was just kidding you a bit! :D

As far a this type of story not being big news 2 years ago, you're probably right, but the world has changed, and this type incident is frightening, no matter what your nationality.

Certainly "terrorism" is in the news, now more than ever, but it isn't really surprising.

True, but there's a difference between a huge frontpage news article with the heading "OMG TERRORIST ATTACK!!!!!!!1" and a small page 11 article with the heading "explosion on ship - cause still unknown"; that was basically my point. Oh well, we'll see what the real cause of the accident was soon enough.
