Got this of slashdot.org.
from the betting-pool-for-workaround dept. aurelian writes "It's official: using browsing the web while blocking pop-up ads and other such exciting website enhancements is theft. Anti-leech.com are offering to protect your site from browsers blocking pop-ups (or 'theft tools' as they call them) - just try stealing from them with your favourite pop-up free browser. Whaddaya think??? |
These people are s-i-c-k. Don't they understand that pop-ups are the plague of the internet? It is sick that some people could sink so low just to earn some money.
I am not going to condemn them any further but I am going to cast a spell on them. The spell is called The curse of 101 looping Pop-ups In another minute or two all of their PCs will be affected by my spell. Everytime their employee try to click something on the desktop (or anywhere), their computer will automatically connects to the internet and 101 looping pop-ups will appears on the screen. Getting new PCs will not help either because as soon as a new PC is plugged in, the curse will immediately take place. Now, what do you think about that? :D |

Well you said it yourself, they do get money for it. And by killing the pop-ups you're taking away their money, I think that's called theft.

Okay, picture this:
You have a shop, you're about to close a deal, and just when the buyer is about to hand you the money, I jump in and convince him to leave. Now tell, how would you feel about me. |
Uhmmm, it seems as if you can make money by selling anti-pop-up software. Why not develop anti-anti-pop-up software?
You're right Paladin2000 this is sick! And they call it "exciting website enhancements"!!! |
But that's not considered theft. I can understand them being angry as hell, but I don't think you can consider that to be theft.
|
You could propably still drag my ass to court.
|
Stealing from *what?!* Who gives them the right to put up pop-ups in the first place? It is not like there is a term and condition in the website that says "in order to access to the material (and free porn) from this site, you must not block the pop-ups ads no matter how annoying they are..."
