I'm doing the unseeing eye quest and am having trouble killing the creatures known as beholders.I can kill the small beholders but when I fight the big ones I can't even get close without dying.Does anyone know who to beat them with a relatively low level party?(levels 9/10)
Also there's a building in the temple district called guarded compound and there is a very difficult fight in it.Does anyone know how I should go about killing this group? |
About the beholders: i believe that there's a cleric spell that reflects the beholders attacks, aso there's a cap that reflects many types of spell but u are far from it...
About Compound: u have a recent party i believe that u should make them a lil bit stronger than come back and wipe the sorry a*** of the pour basta*** in the compound... cya. |
do u have tob? if u do, make sure u get the ability 'deathblow' for at least one of ur fighters; then whack away!
|
For beholders, I would recommend either the Cloak of Mirroring or the Shield of Balduran. They both reflect the Beholder's rays, after that you should have no problem with them!

To counter the beholders use many protective spells like bless, chant, deathward, free action!!! and many more. When there are several beholders around, U can opt for a mage or two with several fireballs memorized or fireball scrolls and then haste the mages and go running towards the beholders, fire fireballs and move away (robe of vecna for -4 casting time). Use this hit and run tactic to finish them of, while staying away from their blasts (remember free action). Approx. 4-5 fireballs should do the trick. Also, a ruthlessly powered up tank with all you protective and battle-enhanced spells can finish them off too whilst your mages are firing fireballs at them (remember 100% fireprotection).
The guarded compound fight is simply VERY hard for low-level parties. When you've killed them and collect their items you'll understand why. |
Cloak of Mirrorring and Shield of Balduran are usually must haves when dealing with these guys. If you don't have them try using summoned critters to 'draw fire' from the Beholders.

Where do you get the cloak of mirroring and shield of Balduran?
|
Shield of Balduran: Bonus Merchant from the collecters edition CD. But you can DL the file somewhere.
Cloack of Mirroring: Sahaugin City, you probably haven't been there yet. |
Okay thanks,I already have the bonus merchants so i'll get the shield.I never noticed it protected from beholder rays before.Anyway I have a few more questions:
1)I got a message to meet with Valens mistress in the graveyard district at night but when I went there there was no one there. Is there a time limit for this as it must have been about ten days since I got the quest? 2)Also I saw on this forum that you can have a stronghold based on what class you are.So where would I go to get mine?I'm a sorcerer. |
1) Valens mistress will always be at the graveyard at night until you talk to her, try looking again. She should be at the west side.
2)Sorcerors and Mages get the Planar Sphere for a stronghold. Talk to Tolgerias at the council building to get the quest. |
