Once in a while Windows Media Player throws a message to the screen "Updating media information in Library and My Music..." or rather this: "Searching information about CD.." . This is assuming you are connected to the internet.

I´ve started to doubt whether this actually updates anything, there is not reason to update the song list (maybe the number of listens) when you are only listening to music. I´m guessing this program simply sends information of what I listen to to the mighty Microsoft so they can sell that information on. At least that´s what phrase "searching CD information" suggests.

What do you think?

hmmm, I have never had that happen. Though I use Winamp to play my music, so maybe that's it. My WinMediaPlayer is used to go to websites like movies.go.com that have official trailers to upcoming movies, or to play things that you guys post here at IW, like that crab vs. technology.

What do I thikn? I think we had a similar thread in here not too long ago. I think andrewas (or Vaskez?) posted some very informative links about this. I´ll see if I can dig the thread up for you. `

Aha so maybe it was Sir K that posted them. Or? :D
