Sorry that this is a sport riddle but it's been driving me crazy for a day now and the friend that sent it will not give me the answer.

What enters the field of play in a football match at half time, but
doesn't leave until the match is over?

If it's a Saturday match it leaves after the game, but if it's a mid
week game it remains until the next day.

It also only happens in the English Premiership, not in Scotland, or the lower divisions.

for our international audiance it relates to an english soccer match.

It's a wind up. There is no answer.

I have some vague notion that it might be the F.A. cup or something along those lines.

Or possibly something to do with the referee. I've heard this sort of riddle before, and I believe there is an answer.

Well I will have a go - mid week games are usually at night right (assuming that, because you wouldn't get much of a crowd during the day. And Saturday matches are during the day.

Soooo - the trash like a few hot dog wrappers etc should blow onto the ground at half time. On Saturday, the cleaners come in after the game, but midweek, the Stadium cleaners come in the next day.

So how about that one?

Davros 02-13-2003 08:54 AM

Hmm - if it only happens in England Premier division then what is peculiar to that? I still think I am on the right track with the cleaning of the stadium. Any thoughts anyone?

Hello! Can anyone hear me?

It's a hoax that has been around for a few years. It was thought up by Danny Baker and Chris Evans and broadcast by the Soccer AM team. You can spend hours on it but there is no answer.

Spoilsport - liked my answer better - Davros crawls away and sulks about lecturers setting tests with no actual answers.
