What does a bard's battle song actually do (and is it the same bg/sc vs bgII?)

The BG manual gives the nebulous 'party morale and luck are better'

The closest I've come to a real answer is Versus's BGII guide which tells
me what a Skald's battle song does (and that it is different from the
'typical bard') and that a Blade's battle song does not become better
with levels (thus implying that a Bard's song does.

thanks,

I have never really used the bard-song, but I do think it raises your morale = your partymembers won't run away from battle as easly

+1 to saves and thac0 (maybe damage too) as well, I believe.

It sometimes helps to keep Khalid from running like a rabbit, and I've also used it to snap Minsc out of his berserk state (the berserk icon will still show on his picture, but he won't attack party members and you can control him).

Yes, it gives the rest of the party luck (extra +1/5% on all abilities rolls such as Thaco, Save's vs. and thieving checks). It possibly increases party morale, but Khalid will still run away!!!!
