How do you use familiars

You can only find a familar if it's cast by the main character so an npc can't cast this spell. If your character is a mage it's simply a case of putting the scroll in your quick item slots and casting the spell. There's no point putting a spell in your spell book that you'll only use once.

You get different familiars according to your alignment..they are mostly good for scouting and things like that. Most have spells that come in handy, and if you pick up the cat it will even pickpocket people for you, but overall familiars should be kept out of melee combat.

<font color="lightblue">I would recomend keeping it out of the action entirely... summon it, talk to it, tell it to go into your backpack. Having a familiar gives you extra HP, but if it dies, you loose the extra HP it gave you, loose 1 point of Constitution permanantly (loosing any HP that might cause), and sustain the amount of HP your familiar gave you in damage. </font>
