If I copy music off of a cd to MP3 format, is there any kind of copy right infringement? Full credit will go to the composer/composers.

if you sell the CD you will be in hot water. If it is for personal use...it's no one's business but yours. </font> |
As long as you only use if for personal use, and not distributing it, there is no copy-right infringement (RIAA would love to make it so though). Otherwise you must contact their publisher for rights (listing credit won't cut it) and fees.

Yeah. What they said. ;) At least you care enough to ask. Don't sell it, don't distribute it, don't trade it, don't profit from it. Or, at least don't get caught. :D
Hmm... a thought just occurred to me. I don't know how making a "mix CD" and giving it to a bf or gf would be taken. I know you can make your own, though. Of course, if I had a nickel for every "mix tape" I made or received. Wasn't there a joke about this in HIgh Fidelity?? [ 06-04-2003, 02:30 PM: Message edited by: Timber Loftis ] |
Thanks for the info all, but it has become a moot point, as the aforementioned music is readily available for download at the producers, bioware, site. Thanks any way, and good night.
