my party is quite powerful -
I've cast every protection I had and drank protection from magic potions. used all spell turning, spell trap, etc.

I've tried several times and I'm getting my butt kicked. I summon every elemental, get the dragon killing weapons out, death fog, ring of ram, timestop, etc. - and my party just gets slaughtered. (midcast magic on the party is killing me).

any suggestions? thanks for the help!
(My party is keldorn, minsc, aerie, iomen, jaheria, and me (tf/mage/wr). I also have croem fayr, silver sword, and halberdwave)

And I found Firkraag a piece of cake!!

I've never had any trouble with the Black Dragon. By the time you get to Suldanessalar, your party should be fairly kicka$$ tough.

I've never used death fog or timestop to nuke this dragon. 4 tough elementals. Cast all of the protection and buffing spells on the party. Have your tanks charge in with your summoned monsters. Have your mages be prepared to cast breeching spells the moment that the dragon brings up magical defenses. Dump a horrid wilting spell or 2 on top of the dragon for good measure. Shouldn't ever be any more difficult than that.

lol fighting dragons is easy dude, just do this:
1. First cast magic resistance on him (Jahiera)
2. Then cast feeblemind (Imoen/Aerie)
3. Chop away

The dumb blackass just sits there and takes it, as does any creature affected by feeblemind. This works great on firkraag too. Lol ive killed both dragons (red and black) and im still only in chapter 2! I know some may find this technique "cheesy", but hey, if the spells are in the game, why the hell NOT use them?

Thats just my two cents. =) Dave....

There are several Dragons in the game. People are starting to mix up between the Shadow Dragon and the Black Dragon( in Chapter 6-7).

The Scroll of Crom Faeyr is loot from the Shadow Dragon.

The Black Dragon guards the Goblet of Life.

Frankly, by the time you reach the Black Dragon, your party should be powerful enough to handle it without any problems. Free Action to counter his Entangle, station your spellcasters far away to avoid the Miscast Magic. Apply standard Dragon-slaying tactics.

I have to say its pretty cool that people all over the world
share the love of the same thing and help each other out...

Thanks for the advice. I changed tactics, summoned a ton of elementals, and used 3 horrid writing scrolls - which worked like a charm. The guy was dead in 5 rounds.

I found Irenicus a cakewalk. On to ToB!

I don't think that's cheesy at all! If the game programmers have programmed the spell into the game and not wanted people to use it on Dragons they should have included in the spell "NOT USEABLE ON DRAGONS!!!!!

I think all is fair on using Feeblemind on Dragons!!!

DJG, DaveTheOftenConfused was talking about his use of the spell Magic Resistance being cheesy, not Feeblemind. Magic Resistance was intended to be a [i]beneficial[/b] spell used on party members, potentially raising their Magic Resistance. But, due to a loophole, you can cast it on enemy creatures too, potentially lowering their Magic Resistance. I, too, find the tactic munchkin.
