A mate of me who is active in the IT business told me norton is having some serious issues lately concerning virii.
Since I use norton antivirus 2003, and he recommended me to check with another online scanner, I went to the mcafee site and have my system checked, it wasnt even half way or there was a trojan on it. I cancelled the rest since I cant fix/repair/kill/whatever with mcafee online scan.
I did a full update on the whole norton bunch I have here and then ran a full scale virus check; result : nothing found.

I tried to run panda antivirus, but it gave me a php script error (probably due to my firewall). I went over to fprot and downloaded their windows trial version. Installed it and ran a system check and within 3 minutes it already found the bloody virus. fprot killed it, good riddance.

What Im saying is, norton seems to lack in security and its getting worse as of late what I hear from friends. I just wanna make sure all people stay virii free with the latests threats around.

Recommended virii scanners (online)

http://www.fprot.org/ -- goto download, it should show the way itself. It also has a very nice dos scanner which is very usefull when you have your system already infected and you can only boot with a disk into ms-dos. Its totally free and its a very small download (even for dial up users (less then 1 Mb))

http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/ -- This one I recommend most, its very very up to date and its free. I heard good things about pro IT people using this.

Good luck with the war on virii people.

When was the last time you had a virus update ? Did you set it to automatic ? I have no problems whatsoever right now, thanks to Norton.

Like I posted, just before I did a scan, I ran the update (today)

Norton sucks! Yeah it really does!

Anyway, even if you get that yellow box saying it has updated your virus definitions it's not certain that it has! You have to check manually to see when your definitions were updated. Norton has some fixes for this on their site, unfortunately I couldn't get them to work.

Due to that, and that I couldn't uninstall their bloody software, AND that their firewall decides to filter out whatever it wants, I changed both virus scanner (McAfee) and firewall.

Heres the best part. I was playing IWD 2 when suddenly it popped out and went to fprot, giving me a note that it had blocked another threat from the same virus, guess where it was located.....in my norton recycle bin. The "smart" program put it as a recovery file in the bin. I cleaned the recycle bin (with the undelete stuff) just in case. Nice program, having people pay for it.......:/
