as far as im aware, the books just said he had a lightning scar on his forehead. the fact it was slightly on the left was just an idea of the films. well the first one at least, after seeing how the first horribly mutilated the book i didnt watch the others.

Aw comon! What happen to the good old Ironworks sense of humor!?
