First of all, hello to everyone ;)
I hope you can help me with a problem I encountered: When exploring the shadow dungeon beneath the temple ruins I cannot pass the second shadow wall. I take the sunstone gem from the pedestal and open the first door with it. After that the gem has vanished, leaving me clueless how to open the second door. I have explored the rest of this dungeon fully but have found nothing that could help me. Relevant items in this quest I have earned so far are the first part of the Amaunator Symbol, some bones, the key to the cells, two scrolls describing the rituals and the sun gem which has vanished as I said before. I have installed the german version of BG2 with ToB expansion and all the newest official patches. I have read several walkthroughs although I don't like them (I like solving riddles myself) and have browsed this forum for clues but have found nothing. Is this a bug, have I overseen something or am I just bloody stupid? I would be grateful for any assistance. |
Welcome to the Ironworks Forums, Fruusch. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/wavey.gif
The second shadow door is unopenable. If you recall, there is a bridge near the door which leads to a room with a floor of fire. You have to sprint over the floor to the other side. |
WELCOME to IW!!
You don't have to (and I think can't, never heard of anyone who could) open this door just walk around it (over the bridge in the room at the right, just north of the door you can't open). You need the other items, except for the cell key and the ritual scrolls (if you got your piece of the symbol of Amaunator by answering the statue's riddles) later in the quest. |
Well, I think then I was just too stupid to find the way leading on from there ;)
Many thanks for your help! |
You can walk around the outside edge to reduce or not take damage. Note: you cannot see the ledge on the southeast because the wall hides it.
|
You can also cast several Protection from Fire spells to render your party members immune( or at least highly resistant) to fire.
|
Ok, I got in, killed the dragon and its master, grabbed lots of loot and ran away ;)
The fire was no real problem as my party was quite high leveled (average 12). Now I have tasted dragon blood - I'm off to kill Firkraag! Thanks again for your help. |
No problem, and have fun with Firkragg. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/happy/xyxthumbs.gif

Not only do I hate beholders, but I don't like (killing) dragons much either.... my game gets all slow and my people are like, "F-r-ee-d-o-m!!..." (slow motion speaking...) anyway, then I get my butt kicked. LoL
