Is there a maximum limit to the number of items that can be stacked in one place?

I left a whole load of stuff (including the Equaliser Jewel and the Gesen Shaft) in a big pile in 'my' room in the Order of the Radiant Heart to make some space. I went off and did some quests, got the rest of the equaliser and the gesen bow and came back to pick up the other parts. I was most annoyed to discover that half my stuff was missing.

I had to cheat to get the items back again.

Is this because I stacked too much or what?

Freakytim,

as long as you put your items in a highlightable 'container' (desk, chest, box, etc) then you should be able to stack as many items as you want for as long as you want. Don't drop the goodies on the floor.
