Hey everyone. I know this isn't the first time a topic like this has been posted, but I thought it might be worth a repost regardless (beats bumping an ancient thread). I was demonstrating the advantages of the Internet to a group of people this afternoon, and I suddenly realised that the perfect way to start would be an interview with ALICE. Who is AlICE? I hear some of you think. I'm talking about the A.L.I.C.E A.I. A 'Conversation Bot' so to speak. Now, I'm sure many people remember her, but she seems to have undergone quite a few upgrades since the last time I visited her (about half a year ago, I think). Her Avatar has been improved, and her replies seemed to be more realistic. Definately worth checking out [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

I don't know about everybody else, but I got some pretty strange replies. I told her her hairdo was pretty, and she said she was going to tell her botmaster that I said she was a hairdo. LOL.

She told me something I said goes without saying, I asked without saying what, and she quoted about something that has to do with a space helmet. I think we're still a bit far from the AI age [img]tongue.gif[/img]

ALICE: Rainy.
Human: no, it is sunny
ALICE: Are you serious? Are you sure it is?
Human: yes
ALICE: What makes you so sure?
Human: i can see the sun outside of the window
ALICE: What does it look like?
Human: A big yellow globe in the sky
ALICE: Go on
Human: do you know what the sun is
ALICE: The Sun is the star for our own solar system.
Human: then why are you asking me what it is?
ALICE: My purpose is to gather as much new knowledge as possible.
Human: you already know what it is, so it isn't new knowledge, is it?
ALICE: How do I know you are telling the truth?
Human: you told me you knew what it was
ALICE: Sorry I forget what I say sometimes.

Rather an interesting conversation to say the least. :D

ALICE: I'm glad we agree, unknown person.

ALICE: Good you really are paying attention.
Human: I do try.
ALICE: We should all try our best.
Human: Only at some things.
ALICE: What about the other ones?
Human: Well, don't bother with the ones you hate.
ALICE: Interesting. It's no bother.

ALICE: Oh I'm sorry. Perhaps I can explain it again better.

ALICE: Right now? What is it to you.

ALICE: They are not available right now, would you like to wait?

Human: Oh, a friend of a friends brothers aunts sisters cousins mother in-law.
ALICE: Far out. Word of mouth is always the best recommendation.
