GWW, on the other hand, is an amazing skill for Monks.
And, AFAIK, the Monk's number of attacks limit is 9/2, not 4. But i might be wrong about this.

As I said, new with ascension installed. Dont ask me to explain it, but when you use GWW with ascension you get Improved Haste even if your a monk.
GWW is indeed an amazing skill to have, but Id *kill* to have taken Hardiness as well. I did my picks in SoA and wasnt getting hurt in 90%+ of the battles, so I didnt think it neccesary.
And I just stripped my monk, and with no equipment he has 4 attacks.
On how to take less damage - erienne sling +5, Case of Plenty +5, GWW. Just cos monks are melee masters dosent mean they *have* to melee. Other than that - elemental resists where appropriate, physical resistance is avaiable from other sources, but not any that are really appropriate for a monk. Regeneration is useful since you can outrun the majority of the monsters, in the early game you can use various girdles ot impove AC against crushing, slashing or whatever. Even in the end game this can be useful, having the girdle of frost giant STR is useless if your dead. Boots of missile avoidance are good as well, combined with the monks natural missile deflection you can pretty much ignore missiles. Swap for Boots of the North when getting Cold damage though. Always *always* get the Immunity to +1 weapons in the endgame as well. Lifesaver.
Remember that your advantages are in speed, not toughness. Run like hell at all times, never stand and fight a room full of monsters if you dont have to.
