Hi.
I got this new CDRW (AOpen something 52x) and my Nero would not recognize it. I can only choose some virtual image writer or somesuch and i cant copy files normally on cd or erase cdrw, but can only make images.

So...
Can anyone suggest some other good cd recording software. One that i can download?
Thanks in advance.

Download ? That wouldn't be legal i'm afraid. The best program would be Alcohol 120%, but it costs money. Other good proggies for cd burning are Clone CD and Blindwrite. The latest version of Nero shouldn't give you any problems either, which version do you have ?

But like i said, nothing in this world comes for free dude.

huh?

there are tons of programs free to download (legally)

anyway, in my case i wouldnt mind a 30days trial version.

But are they any good ? The free ones are usually good for nothing. Anyway, all mentioned programs have 30 day trial versions.

You'd be surprised how good some of the free software is...

And anyway, thanks for the post:).. i'll check out the ones you mentioned.

And my nero was an OEM bundled version that will only work with the recorder model it came with.

<span style="color: lightblue">Nonsense. I use a combination of mkisofs and cdrecord, both are free, both are excellent, both are console apps with various GUI frontends (XCdRoast, NautilusCDBurner, K3B - all also free; probably others too). With some creative googling, it might even be possible to find versions of them that run on Windows.
I don't know of any good free ones that definately run on windows, though. If you only need to burn files, and not ISOs or music CDs or video CDs or use CDRWs except as write-once, you might be able to put up with Windows Explorer for it - copy the files to the blank CD, select File -> Write Temporary Files to CD, go through the "user friendly interface" (= no functionality and extremely forceful) for doing very basic CD burning.

I use WinOnCD and it's pretty good. Do some Googleing on it.
