Does anyone ever put proficiencies in darts?
Is there any tactical incitament to do so at all? |
When you're bored, your archer can use them very well.

There was a very interesting thread on archers using darts a while back.. It could have been in the ToB section, but it's something to think about indeed. I'm too lazy to link the thread, but I'm sure someone will.

A mage with proficiency in darts and the gauntlets of dexterity, is not a bad thing. Only problem should be that he's way to busy casting spells to ever use them!

They're good sometimes when you DONT have magic missle, and DONT have melee warriors for disrupting mages, interestingly i have just used darts once or twice, good for roleplaying not much for power gaming ;)

Hello,
don't forget: the Crimson Dart +3 (TOB)RETURNS to the user after it is thrown. Thus, you get a 1d3+3, speed 0 missle weapon with unlimited ammunition. Of course, this pales besides Firetooth, Taralash, Everand's Sling (mods), etc., but, it is great to have around. Useful for someone who is not the team's main archer, as it allows them an alternative means of continuing a constant attack in most situations. Also, no real weight or inventory considerations. All the other darts are probably a waste of time. - Twilight |
I wouldn't recommend people using Darts because I find them useless, but u can give it a shot if u want something new...

Why can't archers grandmaster darts or slings?
|
Archer is a ranger kit and as such, they can not learn about weapons past specialized. To get mastery and grand mastery (waste of time IMHO) you need a fighter.
