Well you have the fact that England is the country which brang settlers to the big country of America and yet they are nothing like England. Australia is probably the only one closest to our English herritige in the world.

The thing is that Americans do things a lot differently, and i'm asking why? The American spelling spell every word without a 'u' (except in the 'qu' words), also we say aluminium, but they say aluminum or something like that. Americans also drive on the right hand side, as opposed to the English where it is the best way to drive on the left, left side is better! But could someone point me in the right direction of why this is?

The English drive on the better side of the road ? So that must mean the rest of the world is doing it all wrong ?

We also don't convert to the metric system. Why I don't know, but things would be simpler that way.

The American English have alot of influences from other languages, like dutch and swedish etc.

There's a theory that the American accent is closer to the English accent in the 18th century than the english one.

America is so different because when Abraham Lincoln chopped down the cherry tree, he made a solemn vow between him and God that he would stick it to the man and rebel against England. Then, aided by a freak accident involving spiders, gamma radiation, and a big vat of glue, he became The Founding Father, able to sign Declartions of Independence with ease, because England needed Independence rained down on its head. He then led a highly successful campaign, winning the Battle of the Wilderness against the French, guaranteeing the English loss of the colonies through sheer military might. The King just gave up and cried, pretending nothing had happened, and the rest of England didn't know America had annexed France until after the French Revolution of 1905.

That's why America is so different.
