So, people! It's Black Friday today, a monument to commercial glory. I myself am one of the insane people who will be spending my afternoon and evening participating in this capitalistic orgy... But I go more for the experience and for peoplewatching than I do for actual sales. Are there any other brave or insane souls on the board who boldly face mobs of people for that one special something for that one special someone? Who got up at 4:00 in the morning to get 50% off an item? Who got mauled today? And who stayed home and bolted the doors?

I disagree, I think students use university as an excuse to buy the most indulgent and useless things possible.

Not secondary school students who DON'T plan on wasting their education.

Well I just came from shopping at a reasonably large mall, although of course here it isn't some special shopping day, it was just your regular "IT'S CHRISTMAS YOU MUST SPEND BEYOND YOUR MEANS OR YOU DON'T LOVE YOUR FAMILY!!!" type shopping day. It was so busy, and even at 9am when the shops were just open. I hate shopping amidst huge milling crowds but I can't go during the week when it's quieter - I can't believe people actually enjoy it!

I did get a nice new bathing suit and other stuff though.
