Just yesterday, my cousin asked me to exchange his Radeon ATI 9250 with my current video card Geforce 5200. I know these video cards are the low end of the market and they are technically same power (and had mine for 3 years now), but I really do want to know if any problems, conflicts which may arise with me switching my video card from Radeon to ATI. I am worried with my current system would be having heaps of conflicts software if that ever happens. Im worried as well of some of the comments made that ATI Radeon is incompatible with DirectX 9.C which is pretty standard for gaming.
His main reason for exchanging it is because that the video card has some error with his motherboards computer so he couldnt use his videocard at all. I have checked the specs for it: link ATI: http://au.asus.com/products4.aspx?mo...l1=2&l2=7&l3=9 link: Gforce: http://au.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=...72&modelmenu=1 They both seem to have the same power with very little difference. I would love to help my cousin out but Im worried of my computer going haywire (gaming and otherwise ) with incompatibility [ 02-19-2006, 09:45 PM: Message edited by: Harkoliar ] |
Just remember to uninstall your graphics drivers before you remove the card and everything should be fine.
Download the latest Radeon drivers ready for you to install when you restart your computer. Job done, all happy. |
soo is it true or not ATI Radeon 9250 will work on direct x 9c?

It's not going to be able to play the latest games at any decent resolution though (as with the FX5200). |

I'm not aware of any issues with any Radeon cards and DX 9.0C - sounds like a myth to me
In terms of raw GPU power, the specs are as follows: 9250

But since neither are particually adequat anyway, and you want to help out your cousin then go for it, so long as you are aware that the 5200 is the faster of the two. |
