What difficulty setting do you use?

Lord 07-15-2004 04:08 PM

Currently running a solo sorceror on insane with tactics and ascension installed.

Cerek the Barbaric 07-15-2004 04:12 PM

I play on Normal. The Mods I've installed are:

1) Ease-of-Use
2) Tactics
3) Item Upgrade
4) Oversight
5) Unfinished Business
6) Kelsey
7) aPack

I also have Ascension and Redemption installed, but I'm not playing any ToB games so they don't really affect my gameplay yet.

Usually on normal, but my brother plays too and he always sets it to easy so I have to start each session by checking the settings...
I only have unfinished business installed.

I just started playing BG1 again and plan to take the character all the way to end of TOB on the Core rules...
Hard and insane just don't appeal to me...

I don't like what Hard/Insane does to make the game harder. All it does is cause more damage to you when you are hit; the result for me is the same - when the battle is over, heal up. I would like Insane to add more monsters (double), and make them smarter (not attack someone who is immune, mages use diff. spells, etc). Fortunately, that is what the Tactics mod does, so I use Tactics to increase the difficulty of my game.

Core rules most of the time. Although I cheat by turning it down when levelling up so that I get max hit points.

I usually play on core rules as well. I don't see the point in insane where the monsters just do double damage.

I am only a beginner player in BG2 so I would have the setting on Novice.

aleph_null1 07-16-2004 12:43 PM

Core Rules here; *nothing* changes in Hard/Insane except placing even more emphasis on your characters' hitpoints, which I spend too much time looking at anyway...

Dron_Cah 07-18-2004 08:14 PM

Yeah, I prefer the classic core rule settings, too. Seems like it would be the original way of doing things, and i always get a bit of nostalgia when playing the game, so i like it to be as close to P&P as i can.
