I'm just doing a bit of work, and I nearly used a word that I wasn't sure exsisted. But all my logic points to it being correct, even though no dictionary I can find will back me up. At first I told my self it didnt matter but It's become a bit of a vendetta.
So, I need the word which describes something which occurs four times a year. I know the word quadrennial means occuring every four years, so my logic tells me the word I want is Quadrannual. Am I right? Please correct me if not. Or going down the synonym route of 'semiannual' - would it be demisemiannual? |
According to Dictionary.com there is no such word. (I used cut and paste so as to not alter the spelling)There were similar words in the list of words.

Already checked that. Like I said no dictionaries will back me up. I mean hypothetically and morphologically really.

I guess you can go around creating words. There's no law that I know of to stop you from doing so. The government, lawyers, and politicians do it all the time.

I'd think that quarterly would be a good choice. As for the other, I'm pretty sure it's kinda like McGyverism, and made up. However, if enough people use it as intended, it will get added eventually.

<Font color=8fbc8f>In the military junction this would relate to the 4 quarters of the fiscal year which begins in October, and ends in September. In the civilian world why would it not mean the same, or at least 4 times annually? Are the seasons not quadrannual?
