Ok I entered BG as Heroic(20), Now I am (1)dispised. I can't remember how it happened, but I do need to raise it some since I get attacked by Marauding Flaming Fist Battle Mages and Scouts Etc. Whats my Answer to correcting this??? Should I leave Bg and go out and try to raise it? or can I do it in Town? Yours Truely, Ares Stark !

Man, that really blows. I was at heroic too once, then it dropped me down to average. I think that if you get a +2 rep bonus when you're heroic it starts flipping around with some kinda bug. I have no idea how to change the rep back to what it should be through cheats, otherwise i'd just suggest that.

Oh, forgot, if you donate large sums of money at temples your rep will go up. It gets real expensive real quick though.

It is a bug, I was 20, then fell to 10 when I entered BG city. try going to a previous save, but if that doesn't work...donate I guess.

Huh, weird... I never heard of that bug... but I think donating money WOULD be the way to go, unless you have an earlier save.

If you are talking about the loss of reputation after the return to Candlekeep, that is not a bug. It is because you were framed and your reputation is in tatters.

Hhmmmm...I returned to Candlekeep and it didn't happen to me! I have to say that I check after every battle to make sure I didn't kill something/one that I shouldn't have. I learned my lesson in BGII...good guys get better prices and treatment!

It only kicks in after you are framed in Candlekeep, upon your return to Baldur's Gate.

I never knew of this prior to today. My rep. did not seem to be a problem.

I remember running through that frame-up scenario several different ways and that there was some way by taking one of the options presented with that whole affair that my party ended up being released from prison with it's 17 rep intact. However, I could not for the life of me defeat the bad guys in the caves at the end of the catacombs. No matter what I did. My party was only mid level (4-5) so perhaps that had something to do with it. But I found that when I fought them with the decreased rep I could win fairly easily. I concluded the AI was making it impossible for me to get around the rep decrease. So I moved ahead, accepting the decreased rep. Anyway, this thread has me wondering if maybe some people have taken the option I did that keeps the rep intact and succeeded where I had failed.
