I made it, I'm here! North America
Was a bit of trouble to get here with 30 hours of travel time, and my mum losing my tickets the first time I tried to leave, but I'm finally in uni, and with enough time to breathe again. How've you all been? And it's 11 30 here, and I turn 18 in half an hour. But I have a single friend here so far... So I'll let you guys wish me well instead! And on a side note, what kind of a screwed up number is 19 for the drinking age eh? NINETEEN? |

Aww, Happy Birthday, you cute little transplant, you! Nice to hear you made it safe and sound and can get started studying....err partying... :D

(since it's been half an hour )
Enjoy yourself out there, and make sure you get the proper ratio of studying to partying done. I haven't figured it out yet, but I keep searching :D And if you think 19 is bad, come on south of the border. It's 21 down here in most places. |
It's not that I have to wait... there are always people who will buy for you here... It's that 19 is such a strange choice of age!

Oh, and do be careful if you go in the mountins. People get likked there every year by cougars and bears. Just make sure you make noise all the time. If they hear you coming they'll leave.

Actually, 19 means "out of high school", I think.
Normal high school runs until you're around 17... so some people are turning 18 during the school year. This way, no student should be of legal drinking age... unless they've been held back. Here in Michigan, the age was 18 for a long time. Then they raised it to 19, and a year or so later, to 21. Really ticked off all those people who were almost 18, then almost 19.... *edit* Personally, I prefer the European approach. Let 'em drink early... 14 or so. Teach 'em how to drink *before* you teach them how to drive... makes more sense to me :D [ 09-07-2006, 04:27 PM: Message edited by: Bungleau ] |
