So here I am in the Eye Tyrant tunnels in the Underdark, armed with the Shield of Balduran. I hack n' slash my way thru' all the Beholder kin there. Then, at the SE area of the map I turn the corner and lo! and behold! come face-to-face with an Elder Orb.

No problem, I think to myself. Hefting the Shield of Balduran in one hand and Celestial Fury in the other, I confidently step up to it and start hacking away.

As expected, the Beholder's spells bounce harmlessly off the shield. In the meantime I am kicking its butt (do beholders have butts?). Then in the dialogue box I see the message:

Beholder - casts Imprisonment

Uh-oh! I pray hard that I'll make the saving throw but nope!

Reload time...

To make things worse I had to restart from near the beginning... sigh!

Oh many of us feel your pain. We play through BG2 so many times we get very impatient to rush through. I've found myself in very similar situations.

Hm... I was having the same trouble in that area. Except it wasnt a Elder Orb i turned the corner into it was a bunch of MIND FLAYERS!!! Damn, those guys arent hard to kill but they will take down half of your party with them.

I know this is totally off the origional topic but has anyone ever tried to kill those 3 mind flayers just ahead of your party when you first enter the underdark? I tried my very first time through and died within seconds and after then I never tried again.

Huh? Which Mind Flayers? I've never seen them.

They are a bit hard to find because they reside in the crevices. Unless you specifically seek them out, you will most likely never bump into them save accidentally.

As to how to deal with them, Skeleton Warriors and Mordenkainen's Swords.

The Ozzman 09-27-2002 05:36 AM

there is no save vs. imprisonment!
